"Most of my classmates in this group had not seen each other in over 40 years and I wanted the planned 2018 reunion event to be extra special. T-Shirts and caps were an essential part of this plan, but I needed a custom design that incorporated the school logo, uniform and school colors as well as depicting a 1970’s theme. MHS being a co-educational school, I wanted a design that would reflect and represent both male and female classmates.
Having seen the creations coming out of the Langi Lala Studios, I immediately though to contact Peta-Ann (and for full disclosure, she is my niece). I shared the concept/ the theme we were looking for and she immediately went to work. Now to be clear, I am in NY and she is in Kingston Jamaica, but in less than a week, I had conceptual sketches that she was more than willing to modify to meet my “picky detailed needs”.
We finalized the design and coloring and then tackled coming up with a script style that flowed with the logo and theme. She immediately consulted with a member of her team who had more specialization in lettering. Throughout this entire process, I encountered nothing, but professionalism, cooperation and patience backed up with a whole lot of talent.
Within three weeks I had the final product as shown below, that speaks for itself. The reactions from my classmates when they saw the finished product, was thrilling. The design achieved the intended nostalgia as it brought back 40-year-old memories of Afros and Afro Puffs, bell bottom pants and platform shoes. They were totally please with its application to T-Shirts and Caps.
